St George Bank’s Tuggerah Branch kindly hosted a fundraising BBQ for the Iris Foundation on November 16.
The theme of the day was ‘Share a Smile’ – aiming to highlight that simple gestures like smiling at others or paying a compliment can help to brighten someone’s day and engender positive change in the community. Visitors enjoyed a sausage sizzle and posted to a rainbow of colourful messages, sharing what made them smile.
The Foundation was also presented with a cheque as the recipient of a Westpac Foundation Community Grant of $10,000. The grant will fund an expansion of the Iris Foundation’s successful Life Connections program, which offers participants a set of practical tools to build resilience – the ability to recover effectively from stress and setbacks.
