Shifting Gears
Wyong Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank has approved grant funding in support of young people aged 18 – 24 years to learn critical life skills at an early age. Through development of our Reframing Resilience project, the Shifting Gears initiative aims to encourage young people to explore and reflect on their own levels of resilience, highlighting strengths and areas to focus on to build resilience and foster mental wellbeing.
Resilience is not just about coping, being tough, or pushing through hard times – it’s a lifelong skill and ability that anyone can learn and develop.
The outcomes of strengthened resiliency not only aid recovery, but build skills to face future social, emotional and economic challenges being faced.
The National Resilience Index Australia 2022 research shows a national vulnerability with 9 out of 10 Australians below the 85%+ protective range of resilience. As such, 90% of Australians could benefit from increasing resilience skills to boost protection against depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses.
